Event Details


Join us for this years 2017 Alaskan Affiliate Cup hosted by CrossFit Fairbanks. Let's bring our communities together and start this years competition off right. This years Affiliate Cup will be very different from the prior years. We have reached out to local businesses for sponsorship and vendors around the state to bring in a more spectator (and participant) friendly event, hoping to eventually make this a well-known event across the state to utilize and help promote small local businesses like all of our Affiliates. Looking back we wanted to maximize time over the weekend so that athletes on each team have the opportunity to participate in many events instead of just a few. Registration will close Sunday June 4th at 11:00pm to give coordinators time to get shirt orders in and to athletes at the time of the event and to make for a more efficient and smooth competition for everyone.

Event Description:

This year each team will have one designated team Captain that will be in charge of sending in a team roster once established.

Friday night there will be a mandatory catered dinner for all athletes and judges.

5:30pm-7:00pm all athletes and judges will check in. Athletes will get assigned athlete numbers consisting of the team number from the roster and an individual athlete number. All athletes and judges will pick up their swag bag along with event T-shirts at this time. Dinner and socializing will start around 6:00pm.

7:00pm-8:30/9:00pm coordinators will start going over movement standards and a briefing for Saturday's events and answer any questions.

Check-in Saturday and Sunday morning will be between 7:15am-8:30am. We will mark all athletes at check in with their 2 numbers (team number and athlete number). All event shirts must be worn by athletes and judges during the day to not confuse anyone.

The weekend will consist of approximately 20 events. We will start posting events on June 5th (after registration closes). Leading up to June 5th, we will post all movements included in this years competition. Ultimately, we have decided to give EVERY team a chance and make it fair across the board. We want to know which Affiliate is the best under any and all circumstances.

This year will be more spectator friendly and have most of the events indoors. There will be a few running events outside, but that will only be for athletes and judges. We will include events where a workout is going on and in another designated area there will be a max out going on as well, so at some point most athletes will be working on an event at the same time (there will be no more than 2 events going on at the same time). Masters (and/or teens if any) will be included in all the workouts, but may have different weights and standards that we will go over as time gets closer and a more thorough in depth description will be given during Friday and Saturday nights briefing.

Each team will consist of 10 athletes (some Affiliates may have 2 teams). If there is not enough athletes (20) the gym will be split with no more than 8 athletes or accordingly. Each team will have to include:

3 Open Men 18-34 years of age
3 Open Women 18-34 years of age
1 Master Male 35+ years of age (or teen under the age of 18)
1 Master Female 35+ years of age (or teen under the age of 18)
2 sub athletes (optional)
2 judges

This years head judge once again is the infamous Kristy Parrish. To complete a team, each team must bring 2 CrossFit certified judges (1 per every 5 athletes signed up).We ask that each Affiliate help to make this years competition run smoothly. Competitions cannot be ran without the judges, so the more we have on hand the better off this years competition will be. Judges will be in charge of keeping track of all reps completed and make sure all movements have been completed by all standards. We value volunteers, so this year if the judge feels threatened by an athlete, the athlete will be disqualified from the competition. We will not tolerate it.

Scoring will be simplified. Each individual will have their own score which will be contributed to their specified team. Scoring will be the same for all events. The team with the least amount of points will be the winner.

The winning team will receive the 2017 Alaskan Affiliate Cup trophy and the title as Fittest Affiliate in the State of Alaska.

Payment information:

Athletes: All athletes must register and show up for the mandatory catered dinner and briefing Friday night. The catered dinner is included in this years price.

Judges: All judges must register and show up for the briefing Friday night. All athletes and judges will receive an event T-shirt and swag bag at check in on Friday.

*ALL Athletes and Judges must be present for all briefings (Friday and Saturday night)

Guest: Athletes and Judges who are interested in bringing a guest for the catered dinner Friday night, please sign them up with the cost of dinner.

*Individual fees are handed off to athletes, judges and guests with payment.
