• Why do you train?

I started CrossFit in August 2015 because I kept hearing how much fun it is. I came in as a distance runner (half marathons), and I wanted to supplement my running to help prevent injury (does it sound weird to say I started CrossFit to prevent injury? I think it makes perfect sense!) I basically fell in love with CrossFit, drank as much of the Kool-Aid as I could, and decided that I wanted to get strong enough to compete in scaled competitions.
Now, while running will always be my first love, I can't imagine life without CrossFit. It's given me so much confidence and made me a better person, not just a better runner. But that's a story for another day.
One of the most amazing things about CrossFit is that anyone can do it if they put their minds to it. I'm essentially a hobbit, and I can do it. My 10-year-old son has started CrossFit Kids and, after just a couple of months, has more self-confidence. (My 6-year-old daughter is sad that she can't CrossFit yet.) For us, it's not just exercise; it's a way of life.
